Hygiene standards and health safety at Bare Care

How Bare Care maintains hygiene and client safety during professional sugar waxing treatments in Auckland.

Health safety and hygiene at Bare Care

At Bare Care, client health, skin safety, and comfort are treated as a priority in every appointment. We operate as a licensed hair removal salon in Auckland and keep our daily hygiene routines in line with the general standards expected for professional personal care services.

Good hygiene in a hair removal salon is not just about cleanliness. It is also about reducing the risk of cross-contamination, protecting sensitive skin, and making sure every client feels safe during the treatment.

Before the first client of the day

Each day starts with a check of the treatment room and work area.

  • Treatment bed, trolley, heaters, lamps, shelves, and other frequently touched surfaces are cleaned and disinfected.
  • The room is checked to make sure it is tidy, well prepared, and ready for safe treatment.
  • Fresh supplies are prepared for the day, including gloves, disposable items, clean linen, tissues, and treatment consumables.

Before each appointment

Before each client, the treatment area is prepared again.

  • Fresh bed covering or clean lining is placed on the treatment table.
  • Hands are sanitised before the treatment starts.
  • Fresh medical-grade nitrile gloves are used for each client.
  • Clean tools and consumables are prepared for the booked treatment.
  • The skin is checked for anything that may affect the treatment, such as irritation, cuts, broken skin, recent sunburn, or other visible sensitivity.

During the treatment

During the appointment, hygiene is maintained throughout the whole service, not just at the beginning.

  • If several areas are treated in one session, we usually work from cleaner zones to more intimate zones.
  • Gloves, tools, and consumables are changed whenever needed during the treatment.
  • If a spatula or other disposable item is used, a clean one is prepared for the session.
  • If there is any minor skin reaction such as pinpoint bleeding, the area is cleaned and treated appropriately before continuing.

These steps are especially important for sugar waxing because the treatment is often performed on sensitive areas such as underarms, bikini, or Brazilian zones.

After each appointment

After every client, the room and tools are reset before the next treatment.

  • Used disposable items are discarded.
  • Reusable metal tools such as tweezers are cleaned, disinfected, and processed according to salon hygiene procedure.
  • The treatment bed and touched surfaces are cleaned again before the next client arrives.

End-of-day hygiene routine

At the end of the day, reusable tools are processed again and the room is fully cleaned so it is ready for the next working day.

This includes a final check of the treatment area, surface cleaning, waste removal, and full disinfection of reusable tools.

Why these hygiene standards matter

Professional hygiene standards help reduce unnecessary skin irritation and lower the risk of contamination during hair removal procedures. They also help create a more comfortable experience for clients who may already feel nervous about intimate or first-time treatments.

At Bare Care, these routines are part of the service, not an optional extra. Clean tools, clean hands, clean surfaces, and careful treatment technique all work together to support better results.

After your appointment, proper sugar waxing aftercare is also important for keeping the skin calm and supporting a smooth recovery.
